Part II - The Cartiers and the British Crown: in conversation with Caroline de Guitaut

Join us for the second part of this online lecture on the links between the Cartiers and the British royal family. Following on from Part I, we'll be exploring the stories behind jewels acquired by generations of the royal family and taking you on a journey through time.

Part II will pick up where we left off, as an abdication of one King leads to the bejewelled coronation of another, and as a young Princess becomes a Queen. We’ll pause at royal weddings along the way (and the Cartier wedding gifts), Zoom in on an extraordinary diamond-filled royal bequest, look at the Duchess of Windsor's big cat jewels, marvel at some of the royal timepieces through time, and show how the support of many members of the royal family – from Prince Philip to Princess Margaret - was so important to the Cartiers through the debilitating years of post-war austerity.
